Effluent Dosing Pumps (WWTP & Industrial Treatment)

Hit permit limits with repeatable dosing for coagulants, polymers, pH trim and disinfection. We build digital diaphragm metering for acids/caustics/oxidants, peristaltic for neat/emulsion polymer and shear‑sensitive fluids, progressive‑cavity for viscous polymer transfer, and mag‑drive sealless sets for safe chemical handling. Brands: LMI (incl. KML/KBL), Walchem, Neptune, Emec, Grundfos, Finish Thompson, Iwaki, Flux, Netzsch and J.L. Wingert.

Best‑Fit Pumps for Effluent Dosing

Chemical / Duty Best Pump Type Recommended Brands Why It’s Best
Alum, ferric chloride, caustic, acid Digital diaphragm metering LMI PD/TD, Walchem EWN, Neptune 500/600, Emec, Grundfos DDA/DMX High turndown; PVDF/PTFE wet ends; pulse/4–20 mA, flow verification
Hypochlorite dose & dechlorination Digital diaphragm (degassing head for hypo) LMI PD, Walchem EWN, Emec, Grundfos DDA Degassing heads prevent vapor lock; accurate residual control
Neat/emulsion polymer dosing Peristaltic LMI KML / KBL Low shear; easy tube swaps; steady at low flows to floc tanks
Polymer makedown feed / viscous transfer Progressive‑cavity Netzsch Stable, low‑shear flow for activated polymer and high viscosity
Chemical transfer from bulk to day‑tanks Mag‑drive sealless centrifugal (PP/PVDF/ETFE) Finish Thompson DB/UC, Iwaki MX/MD No mechanical seal → fewer leaks; excellent compatibility
Drum/IBC unloading Drum/IBC pump Flux F‑Series Ergonomic unloading; quick tube changes; XP options
Verification & injection hardware Tanks, calibration columns, injection quills J.L. Wingert Stabilizes dosing and provides auditable calibration data

How We Engineer Effluent Dosing

  • Accuracy—back‑pressure/relief valves, calibration columns and, where required, flow verification.
  • Compatibility—PVDF/PTFE wet ends for oxidants/acids; elastomers by SDS and temperature.
  • Polymer handling—low‑shear peristaltic for neat/emulsion; PC for viscous polymer transfer.
  • Controls—dose‑to‑flow/residual, pulse/4–20 mA from PLC/SCADA, alarms and interlocks.
  • Installation—flooded suction where possible, short suction lines, vertical discharge on metering heads.

Common Effluent Dosing Uses

  • Primary/secondary clarifier coagulants
  • Polymer feed to floc tanks & dewatering
  • pH neutralization (acid/caustic)
  • Hypo dose & dechlorination
  • Filter aid & tertiary polishing
  • Nutrient trim (N/P)
  • Odor/corrosion control
  • Chemical transfer to day‑tanks
  • Calibration & compliance records
  • SCADA interlocks & alarms

Effluent Dosing FAQs

Peristaltic or diaphragm for polymer dosing?

Use peristaltic (LMI KML/KBL) for neat/emulsion polymer at low flow—low shear and easy tube swaps. For viscous polymer transfer to makedown, use progressive‑cavity.

How do I prevent metering pump vapor‑lock on oxidants like hypo?

Specify degassing heads, flooded suction, short suction runs and a back‑pressure valve with vertical discharge. These keep checks seated and gas free.

What accessories improve dosing accuracy?

Back‑pressure and relief valves, calibration columns, pulsation dampeners (as needed) and correctly sized injection quills. We’ll match each to your pipe size and velocity.
